Finishing my Yamaha AE1200S archtop blonde and I want to paint a stinger on the back of the headstock. It's be an interesting one with the rounded volute but it's a beautiful look.
I'm just putting on a couple coats of vinyl sealer right now

My question is should I paint the stinger after the sealer and then hit it with some more sealer after it dries (So it won't bleed into the final clear coats)
or wait till I get a couple coats of lacquer on first. ?

I'm using mohawks nitro products.

On the refinished(prior to my recieving it) Gretsch Electro 2 I have I painted the stinger right over the finish as I didn't want to top coat it and I was lazy.

No sealer over a color base or any base or clear coat for that matter. Sealer is for bare wood only! The color will not bleed into the clear unless it is still wet when you spray the clear.

Do all your shaders etc and put the stinger down last thing before final clear.
